Phorm’s buttons rise and recede before your eyes on the iPad’s previously flat screen. We love watching the world get swept away in the magic of it all but we still want to let potential customers know that they can rely on the mechanics of the case to work every time.
Will the buttons ever wear down? Will the case protect the iPad when it falls? Phorm units undergo extensive reliability testing in our lab involving dropping, bending, UV exposure, slider actuation, scratching and button presses. This ensures that once you have your own Phorm, you’ll be able to focus on what you need to say for a long time.
Most recently, Phorm went through an intensive lifetime test. This test exercised the ruggedness of the slider mechanism to actuate the buttons, to mimic heavy use over 3 years. Our product specification is to meet 40,000 slider actuation cycles. We have now exceeded this specification and the product is functioning without degradation. We don’t plan on stopping here, the slider test continues as we observe any wear on the moving parts inside Phorm. Along with this, we constantly measure button characteristics to ensure that they do not change even after repeated use over the life of the product.
Our in-house reliability testing team comes with experience in leading companies like Amazon, HP, Lockheed Martin, Nortel Networks, Flextronics and Sanmina. So you can rest assured Phorm is being rigorously tested, since the people testing it have tested mission critical systems before.
Stay tuned for additional reliability testing videos/info, shake tests will be next! We want to share these updates with you because we know a pre-order campaign comes with a lot of anticipation and curiosity. We will provide regular updates with information like this regarding testing, events, partners and more!
